Tomáš Berdych

Czech tennis player Tomáš Berdych was born in Valašské Meziříčí on 17 September 1985. He has been playing tennis from the age of five, and turned professional in 2002. He achieved his highest ATP ranking in singles in May 2015 (4th) and in doubles in April 2006 (54th). He established the Tomáš Berdych Foundation in 2013 with the aim of supporting the development of sports activities for children and adults. He acts as patron and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

He has won ten singles titles and two doubles titles on the ATP Tour. By reaching the last four at the US Open 2012 and Australian Open 2014 he matched Ivan Lendl as the second Czech tennis player in history to reach the singles semi-final at all four Grand Slams. As of 2015, he has played in twenty-eight Davis Cup matches, recording a win-loss ratio of 28–14 in singles and 20–2 in doubles. In 2012, he was number one in the Czech team that won the Davis Cup, and with Radek Štěpánek became the most successful Czech doubles pair in the history of the competition. He also won the Hopman Cup in 2012 with Petra Kvitová.
